Hi all,

What do you think about the new Aira smart glasses. Is this a tool you would use? How trusting would you be for someone to guide you without physically being there? What about the business model? Do you think the price is reasonable or expensive?
Thanks.

I don't know what exactly my money would be going towards; whether it's a fair price or not considering the service, but holy crap is that far more expensive than I was expecting. Far more than I could ever afford. Perhaps you can't put a price on productivitiy or piece of mind? Or maybe it's just extortion; a protection racket only without the leg breaking. Personally - and I do have some sight admittedly - I'd use it for incidental situations, but probably not every day. Wearable cameras are cool though. Wearable cameras with an LCD lens similar to an Iphone's would be even cooler.

I personally think they are too expensive. I wonder how long this company will survive?

I guess the company won't go anyplace for lack of sales.
From what I understand, if they don't get your order, they don't make a pair.
So, I suppose they'll keep trying to improve the product.

I got an opportunity to try their service out at a program. To be honest, I'm worried about the money thing and rather if I could afford it. Wearable cameras? just not for me.

I don't have time for it. I've seen people like it, obsess over it, try to debate me
to get in to it. No thanks! If it was recognition alone then maybe but I'd still be
very leary. I prefer privacy. I don't like recognition software enough either. I
rather do the more tried and true way, not that I am not for progress, because I
am, but in this case, it's still the best. If I need help I'll do anything to recruit a
sighted person. I'll ask for help. that's how I handle it. I don't need an ira agent.
I like the person there anyway. and how much can you really see? It'll depend
on me, and the camera. the other person that is with me can walk away for a
minute, look around for me, whatever.

Why not just use Be My Eyes? It's free.

be my eyes isn't for long navigation trips like walking through an airport or
through a shopping mall it's more to look at things, Ira is more concentrated on
navigation, E.G. walking through the airport without sighted assistance,
shopping by yourself, going to a restaurant by yourself and navigating it,
etc......
